On October 9, 2009, nine medical marijuana dispensaries in the city of Fresno were ordered shut down by a Fresno County Superior Court judge acting in a series of lawsuits brought by the city. Read more.
On July 12, 2011, Fresno County unanimously passed an ordinance to ban dispensaries and sharply restrict cultivation. Opposition to the ordinance is expected.
On August 9, 2011 Kern County Board of Supervisors passed an ordinance to limit collective membership to 3 members, and outlaw outdoor cultivation and edibles. Collectives in Bakersfield are gathering signatures on a petition to block the ordinance. Contact Bakersfield NORML Read more.
